Traineeship in Technology Transfer Management

The T3M is a two-year programme that aims to provide skills training and upgrading opportunities for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents in the areas of Intellectual Property (IP) Management, Commercialisation of Technology and Research, and Technopreneurship.

It is a new initiative to train and equip Professionals, Managers, and Engineers (PMEs) with relevant knowledge and skills in the field of technology transfer.

The traineeship is organized by Exploit Technologies, and funded by the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).

T3M Campus at Biopolis

T3M’s main campus will be at Matrix, Biopolis, One-North that includes lecture theaters, workshop rooms, and a fully equipped Library with digital resources.

The T3M programme will have a mix-mode pedagogy which comprises:

  • Seminars
  • Projects
  • Workshops and Boot Camps with Case Studies
  • Guided Self-Learning Modules (E-learning)
  • On-the-job Project-oriented Training

During these two years, the selected trainees are required to complete a structured curriculum that aims to train and equip them with the relevant knowledge and skills to manage technology transfer. Click here to see the list of training modules.

Concurrently, the trainees will undergo job rotations within Exploit Technologies and other relevant facilities within A*STAR to acquire on-the-job (OJT) training. During the OJT, trainees will have the opportunities to learn how to manage A*STAR’s intellectual properties, market and commercialise A*STAR’s technologies, and assist researchers in their fund raising efforts for their new ventures.

Upon completion of the programme, the trainees will be awarded the “Professional Traineeship Certificate (PTC) for Technology Transfer Management” by Exploit Technologies. And the trainees are eligible to apply for jobs in the technology transfer organizations in both the private and public sectors. Exploit Technologies will help facilitate placement for the graduates of this traineeship at the end of the programme.

Trainees who are successfully employed by ETPL at the end of the two-year programme may be considered for sponsorship to take the Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law (GCIP) or the Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) examination administered by Licensing Executives Society (LES) after one year of employment.

Award Details

Successful candidates will be given a monthly stipend allowance.

The actual stipend amount is subject to the candidate’s educational qualification and work experiences and it will be made known to the candidate at the point of offer.

Eligibility

  • Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Fresh graduates from universities or polytechnics in the disciplines of Science, Engineering, Law or Business.
  • Mid-level professionals with university degrees from the disciplines of Science, Engineering, Law or Business as well as working experience in research, technology or legal industry and are keen to pursue a career involving management of technology transfer.

Service Commitment

The trainees are required to work for 2 years in Exploit Technologies if hired at the end of the programme. Otherwise, trainees are required to work for 2 years in the related industry in Singapore after completion of the traineeship.
